Mr & Mrs Hooper (August 2012) : Beautiful Setting, Quiet Peaceful Retreat - Devon Camping with a Difference !!

Myself, husband and 2 boys aged 16 & 11 stayed for 2 nights on the 6th August, and really enjoyed ourselves in the wonderful setting. The pods were lovely and clean and warm, and oh the joy of camping and having your own bathroom and shower was an absolute winner. We were very impressed with everything and will definitely be having another short break soon.

Charlotte B - Plymouth (November 2012): Luxury Camping in a Beautiful Devon Farm Setting!

We have just returned from the most amazing weekend at Dunsdon farm! being November it was freezing outside but the pod was warm and cosy with a heater set up for us. The bathroom facilities are a really high standard and it is such a luxury to have a private bathroom!
We didn't see a soul for the whole 3 days and it was such a peaceful setting!!
Would definitely return! would be a great place to go in a big group!
The 2 berth pod was plenty big enough for the 2 of us and all our bags!

Gary & Sarah Harrison (March 2013): Camping in Devon But Not As You Might Expect

My wife & my 2 girls gave just returned from a three night stay at Dunsdon Farm and we all thought it was fab and had we had a top time, we stayed in the basic pod (the sett) and found it comfortable & warm even though it was -3 outside on our first night.. In fact we had to turn the heater down during the 1st night...there are other pods to choose from but the Sett was ideal for us. It comes with lights, plug sockets a heater and a cool box. Outside there is a neat BBQ area (yes we actually used it although it was freezing) and you also get your own mint shower room...this was a nice surprise, a spacious wet room with a power shower....the surrounding area is stunning and only a short drive to Bude and nearby Port Issac (30 mins drive)Widemouth Bay (20 mins)everywhere has lots & lots to do and lovely people. Anyway very Highly recommended and we will 100% be returning .......

Claire Smith - Edenbridge (June 2012) : What a wonderful place!!! - Glamping on Beautiful Devon Farm

I found this place on a random search on the internet and thought to myself looks fab and a great price. I was not disappointed. We were one of the first people to stay in the amazing pods, which were warm, cozy and comfortable (essential as I was 6 months pregnant and had a1.5 yr old in tow) the facilities were spot on and your own lockable bathroom was a clever touch. Not only a beautiful location (the farm itself is gorgeous) and friendly owners, with hundreds of great places to visit on your doorstep what more do you want??! I can not recommend Dunsdon Farm highly enough - the only downside to sharing this information is that everyone else will want to stay there! : )

Laurie Beck (August 2012): Podtastic - Glamping Near the North Devon Coast

Had the most fantastic stay at the quarry pods myself and three children felt right at home in our Pod with all the fun of camping but not having to worry about cold and wet tents all the facilities were first class and the setting is truly idyllic

As much as would like to keep the Quarry Pods our own best kept secret holiday get away it would not be fair, and can only thoroughly recommend it to all, I just hope we can get in again next year.

EJLC - Andover (July 2012): Excellent Camping in Beautiful North Devon

I visited last year after doing a bit of random research on the internet and stumbling upon these pods. It is set on a very sleepy little lane with rolling fields behind the campsite. The pods themselves are awesome, very comfy and not too hot in the night time either! The communal area is lovely as well, plenty of places to eat and sit around etc, as well as the BBQ area which is great for cooking burgers etc. The toilet facilities were excellent with each pod having their own toilet/shower in a separate outhouse, which were very clean and tidy. The site is in a great location with the seaside town of Bude being about a 20 min drive away. All in all had a great time!

Alison A - Exeter (July 2012) : Wonderful Break - On Unique Devon Campsite

We (my partner, my two children and i), booked a two night stay in one of the quarry pods last summer. We were lucky enough to have had excellent weather, believe it or not!
The pod itself was great and it felt like a bit of a luxury having the cooking pack, after booking. It was the kids first 'camping' trip, they were just three. They are now coming up to four and they still talk fondly of our stay.
It gave the kids an introduction to the beautiful simplicity of camping and gave us the opportunity to offer them the experience without having to deal with tents and loads of equipment. The individual/personal bathrooms are a great facility; again making the usual 'camping' experience easier.
A lovely, peaceful get away. Hope to book a couple of nights again this year. Have and will recommend to other like minded families. Thanks.

Rob - Devon (August 2012): Like camping - but warm and dry!! - Glamping Near Bude

Spent a couple of nights here with my 6yr old daughter. Excellent facilities for everything including heater in the pod. You feel you are being adventurous but its warm and dry and feels safe and enclosed. Cooked on the BBQ and sat in the porch and had a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable stay. Weather wasn't great but there is some stuff to do locally even if this isn't an area greatly served by attractions for kids. We went to 'Splash' in Bude (pool, wave machine, slide - check times), also has bowling, pool, table football etc. next door to Splash.

Dingles fairground museum was a bizarre yet utterly memorable trip as well. If weather ok Bude is an excellent beach and will keep kids happy all day.

Rachel W - Truro (August 2012): Wonderful! - Luxury Camping in Devon

My son, daughter and I had a lovely time staying here. It was particularly nice to have our own 5 star wet room! Paul and his wife are lovely hosts - there if you need them but not intrusive. The pods were great - spotlessly clean and plenty of room inside.
Highly recommended !!

Jenny V - Birmingham (August 2012): Beautiful Devon Camping Pods

We stayed at the Quarry pods last Summer for a couple of days and really enjoyed our experience. The pods were clean, warm and tidy settled in a cool glade area which was lovely for our little girl to explore.
The facilities were immaculate. We did have an issue with the heater in our bathroom which wasn't able to be fixed during our stay which was a shame as it was a little cold during the evenings.
Would definitely stay again :)
Make sure you have a car to travel around as quite far from attractions and villages.

Lydia - Oxford (October 2012): Quarry Pods - Glamping in Cornwall

We stayed here in October half term for several nights - during most of that time we were the only occupants so it was very quiet and we were able to do as we pleased! The pods are in a lovely setting and we really liked the individual shower rooms which came with your own key! The pods were cosy and warm at night and the large pod was just the right size for the 3 of us (2 adults and one child). There is also a communal barbeque and seating/picnic area. Just like camping but more suitable for Winter months than a tent due to electric lights, a plug socket and heater. Good access to Bude which is great for lovely beaches/surfing. Highly recommended.

Lucy Sinclair (July 2012): A Great Glamping Experience Near the Cornish Coast

We went in July 2012 having never glamped before! We were amazed by the facilities, the personal Wc and shower room, the BBQ area and the pod itself. We had a great time and would highly recommend it.

Claire D, Folkestone: Fantastic Glamping Holiday in Devon

What an amazing place! The quarry pods are great for the outdoor feel but very comfortable and spacious. The private shower rooms were better than many hotels and very clean.
The washing up area was well equipped with BBQ tools available as well as washing lines.
The owners were very friendly as was Toffee the cat!
Was a lovely setting to sit and watch the barn owls coming out of the nest in the barn at dusk.
Would highly recommend for a great place to relax and unwind, or to spend time with family and friends.
Smaller pods available for couples or larger ones for families.

The environment here is very nice and calm.I was very happy to see where we were staying. Thank You. We feel so lucky to have booked the pod only an evening before arriving!! we were so pleasantly surprised. This is our first podding expedition, you have "set the bar high". having the seperate washroom mad a huge difference, what a brilliant facility. Laurie Beck: Podtastic

Had an absolutely fantastic stay over 4 nights, myself and 3 kids 13, 8, and 7. The Pod was a great place to stay, it was warm and very comfortable. We had the best family time, as it quickly became our own little den, with all the mod cons that you really need and still felt like we were close to nature. It was definately camping at its best, the setting is idyllic and the rest of the facilties are first class. I would thoroughly recommend a stay in the Quarry Pods to anyone, (although part of me would like to keep it a best kept secret) and hope that it becomes a great success for Paul and Kirstie. We will be back for another stay very soon.

The Crofts: The Best Pods and Facilities

28-29th August 2012 This was our second visit to camping pods (the first was in the Lake District. This was by far the better experience as the facilities were of a really high standard. We love the fact that we had our own bathroom -could keep all of our bathroom stuff in there, instead of in the pod. The information file was very useful too. Loved the BBQ facility - although didn't use it - it was great to have the option. The site is clean and tidy and wellmaintained, an absolute delight!! Thank you for a Fab visit, Kate, Pete and Will Croft.

All the fun and adventure of camping without the leaking tent!! Setting is "spot on", nice and quiet, justa as we like it, rather than noisy campsites. Also close enough to beaches etc.

Fay and Tom - Leeds: Camping Pods

August 5th - 8th 2012 This was our 5th time staying in a pod, and it was by far the best yet!! The area and amenitieshave been well thought out, making a comfortable and peaceful environment. Most campsites you just get a pod and a "bog" standard toilet - what is provided here is more like hotel standard! We will certainly be coming back. Maybe the sun will shine ? Thank you for making our Devon holiday so enjoyable. Fay & Tom (Leeds)

Dear Paul. Just a quick note to say how wonderful we all found your pods. My daughter thought it was the best part of our 3 stage holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your camping pods, and was a great alternative to a tent. it was warm and cosy, even in the rain, aand was fairly good at keeping the outside noise out. It's a nice tranquil place and we will most definately come here again.

We had a lovely week at the pods, it was peaceful and very child friendly. The pods are warm and the added extras make all the difference to the whole experience, such as the private bathrooms, the washing machine and the washing lines. Stargazing Holiday in Devon – In Luxury Glamping Pods Stayed over a weekend in Feb 2014,for a stargazing party, site very clean with excellent facilities, pods very warm with power and lights as well. Paul the owner and family very pleasant and accommodating allowing us to turn off lighting in wash room and car parking areas to help our night time observing, skies very clear and dark, one member had been looking for M101 in our area for six months or more, after looking at Jupiter and Orion nebula found M101 with no trouble, still very faint in sky though. Excellent nature reserve on site as well and also highland cattle. Paul is planning to covert a barn into a play room, chill out area, well worth a visit and very good value for money, also close to Bude as well as Clovelly.

“Fun, new way of camping...peas in a pod! :)” - May 2014

When we arrived (earlier than thought) we were greeted by smiley faces they weren't at all worried that we had arrived early and therefore very accommodating. We were a group of 10 and some of us had hired inflatable beds, duvet and pollow which was a great idea. The pods were fab... all heated too with electric and a cool box which had ice packs that were changed half way through day. As we were a group of 10 it the pods were perfect due to the fact they were arranged for a group like us. The best part was the common room which had just been finished the day before we arrived...This was my favourite bit about it and made the cost of the holiday worth it. Especially as the weather wasn't the best! The bbq idea is great as we used it every day. The only improvements I could make is there possibly having an addition if a canopy in the middle of the pods over the table. Plus an addition of a pool table/ darts board in common room...now I'm just bring picky lol!! Would definately go back again :) peas in a pod!

Group Glamping: “Wonderful Group Podding Holiday in Devon” Group Glamping in Devon - July 2014

As a group of 4 friends, we all found the pods extremely comfortable and spacious - we also ordered the bedding package which was well worth the £35 between 4 for the whole 4 nights! The air beds were comfy and easy to inflate and deflate, and it was nice to have real sheets and a duvet! The facilities at the pods are excellent - there is a private bathroom per pod, which was large, clean, smart and with a great shower. There was an owl cam showing some nesting owls which we all enjoyed a lot! There are BBQ facilities which we made good use of, and plenty of picnic tables. Everybody who was staying in the pods was very friendly, and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Paul and Kirstie were extremely helpful and made everything very easy. There was an extensive folder with details about the pods and the local area which was very thoroughly researched! The area itself was beautiful, near to lots of great beaches, seaside towns and a variety of local attractions. One of the best camping experiences I've ever had - very luxurious but in a beautiful natural setting, and greatly enjoyed by all. I would return again and again and recommend it to a friend.

Podding – More Comfy than Yurts August 2014

Cosy, away from it all place to stay: Had 4 nights in the smallest Pod. Although August we didn't have great weather, so the insulated Pod and heater were very welcome! That warmth and the security the Pods offer, make for a good night's sleep. The Pod was a little smaller than we had imagined, but manageable for two people provided you can leave cooking gear etc outside. Tip: take a lidded box for those sort of things so you don't have to worry about rain or insects and small critters! The Pods are close together so would be great for a large group of family and friends. Luckily the others staying while we were there were friendly and pretty quiet. The exclusive wet room is a great idea and a nice touch of luxury. The location is wonderful. Our poor weather days were accompanied by a couple of very clear nights, wonderful for star gazing without the imposition of ambient light.

Camping in Devon – Without the Hassle August 2014

Great set up with everything you could need while away. I can't stand camping in a tent but here you have the camping experience with none of the down sides. Brilliant weekend Glamping Weekend! – September 2014

We stayed in the Den for 3 nights and had an absolutely brilliant time! The pods were cosy and spacious for the two of us and very warm during the night with the heater. Having our own bathroom was also great as we could leave all of our toiletries in there and lock the door afterwards. The site was very clean and tidy and in a great location - really close to Bude and lots of nice pubs! The owners were really accommodating and sent us a text when we arrived to let us know where they were if we needed anything which was great. Would definitely recommend to friends and family for a relaxing weekend away :)

The camping pods were so comfortable (we hate mornings in a tent!) and set down in the old quarry was fantastic, one of the reasons we chose the Quarry Pods over other glamping experiences. Overall an excellent experience.

Hannah and Emily Dunn: A Great Weekend Camping Birthday Treat in Devon October 2014

Booked the weekend for my sisters birthday present. We were very excited about coming and were not let down! The camping pods were warm, dry and cosy and located in a lovey place. The cook pack had everything we needed and it was brilliant having our own private bathroom. Despite a bit of rain we still managed to do some walking and coming from South Devon it was great to see a bit of the North Devon coast. Overall a brilliant weekend, we will definitely be recommending The Quarry Pods to other friends and family campers. Thank you Paul and Kirstie – we hope to be back soon!!

The Regis Family – Berkshire: Beautiful Farm Glamping Accommodation in Devon

We looked extensively for a good glamping weekend, a holiday to remember and something different from the norm. I spent weeks searching and reading reviews for hundreds of other places before discovering The Quarry Pods and it really did stand out above the rest! So here's a review of our weekend: Our luxury glamping weekend was absolutely perfect. We stayed September 23rd to 26th. From the moment we arrived (in a torrential downpour!) The site and accommodation couldn’t have been more welcoming – warm and dry. The pods are even better than the photo's, we stayed in The Burrow, it had a heater, lighting and mains power and was nice and cosey. We have 3 children, 9 months, 6 years and 9 years and from the moment we arrived they were so excited! They quickly marked out their bed space, and made themselves at home. The pod is heated by a small electric heater, which with the pod being insulated with sheeps wool is lovely and warm, it is on a timer that you will have to reset around every hour, but to keep this going as it takes a while to heat up the pod! It is lots of fun and very cosy in the evenings. The pods are situated in a beautiful old small stone quarry (where the stone for the original farm buildings was taken) and faces a large field where you will often see the farms Highland cows or horses. We usually wouldn't take our eyes off our children for a second at home but here they could play freely and safely and we didn't worry about them once at all, it was a lovely feeling! The children could just be children. We were thrilled to get up each morning and just listen to the birds singing Paul and Kirstie offer a guided tour of the farm, which takes place around tea time on Tuedays, which is very interesting, giving a great insight into the farm, its conservation work and land management in general, it is very educational and fun for the kids, I would recommend going. The children had the opportunity to get up close to the Highland cows and visit Lola and Gyspsy, the farms donkeys. The children enjoyed giving the donkeys some carrots. The farm is very rural, but is close enough to Bude, about 15 minutes where ther are great dog friendly beaches, shops and restaurants. It is a busy, but pretty little seaside resort with plenty going on, but still feeling very relaxed. The area around Bude and its beaches is great for surfers and those who love water, and there are loads of other things to do but we preferred to just chill out and spend our time relaxing on the farm. We lead pretty hectic crazy chaotic lives the rest of the time without ever taking a break so it was nice to just do nothing for once! There are other things on the farm, a Rainy Day Room for those wetter days, a communal barbecue, woodland walks and pond dipping (all on the farm) as well as some pretty communal areas. When it came to going home we really didnt want to leave and the children were quite sad, but we did promise to ourselves that we will return. As with all of the other reviews, Paul and Kirstie have created a wonderful place and for anyone looking for glamping accommodation in Devon, Quarry Pods is certainly unique!! So that was our weekend glamping in Devon, we are so pleased we picked Quarry Pods, it really is the most luxurious glamping venue I could find in the country so if you are reading this and wondering whether or not to book, just do it, you won’t be disappointed and it is worth every penny!

Alison Short, Dorset: Already planning my return

I chose Quarry Pods for our Devon holiday with my son partly because of the location (near to several animal-themed activities for an obsessed toddler) but mainly because of the photos of the accommodation. The pod looked amazingly luxurious, and to have our own private bathroom – wow! On arrival, I was not disappointed. In fact, our pod, The Burrow, was even more beautifully designed and comfortable than the website suggested. Every detail has been considered – we had chosen the Sleep Pack (which is an option). My son enjoyed his comfy Aero bed' and I fell in love with the quarry and its communal covered barbecue, which was the focus of our stay. I would be happy heating and cooking with one in my London flat, if only I could get it up the stairs... As a previous reviewer says, the whole experience is a taste of a simpler, more self sufficient life, only with no hardships involved whatsoever – Not even a chill in the morning!! We did not get to meet Paul and Kirstie as we were only on a short stay and were not about when they called up, but they sent a nice text on arrival so that we could contact them if we had any problems (all went fine though!!) . We really enjoyed meeting the donkey and cows, and the whole Devon farm holiday experience. In short, it's the perfect choice for a family holiday in Devon: even if, like us, you are only two.

The Beccles Family: Just amazing! – Weekend Glamping in Devon

My husband was trying to persuade me to start camping. So, to ease me into the outdoor living a little we booked our stay at Quarry Pods. It's fair to say, I'll never be going camping - the only way for me is glamping!. We stayed in The Hive with our two children and little dog Oscar – Yes this is one of nicest dog friendly glamping sites in Devon. The pods are just stunning. Real luxury. I fell in love immediately! The great thing about it was our two children could go running off around the area and we wouldn't have to constantly watch or worry where they were, as we had a great view over the whole area. The week we stayed was glorious weather too, so all the children wanted to do was visit the farms donkeys (Lola and Gypsy). We spent our days at Bude beach, and our evenings toasting marshmallows on the communal barbecue. Paul’s tour of the farm on Tuesday was brilliant and our little girl loved the Highland cows! - highly recommend. Can't tell you just how amazing The Quarry Pods is. You'll have to experience it for yourself!

John and Sara (Bristol): Perfect Romantic Hideaway in Devon Countryside

The Den at Quarry Pods was an amazing romantic hideaway for me and my partner, it looked amazing in the pictures on the website but the reality is even more breathtaking! For a truly romantic break in stunning surroundings, this place should be at the top of everyone''s list. The pods situated in Dunsdon Farms historic quarry evoke a wonderful "olde world" feel with a modern twist, and it is clear that Paul and Kirstie have put a lot of care and consideration into every detail including a welcome text for us on arrival, in case we had any questions or problems. The Den is comfortable and warm being well insulated and with a small electric heater, it also has lighting and mains power. The Rainy Day room really made our stay as the weather was not quite so kind, and the only downside was that we couldn''t stay longer!

The Stevens Family: A truly unique experience that is amazing

We last visited Devon when our girls were much younger and had a great time so we decided (some 3 years later) to go again. Devon had not changed one bit – having retained all of the holiday charm you would expect. What’s more none of us had tried “Podding” before – glamping in wooden pods. Paul and Kirstie are fantastic as hosts and have thought of every little detail to make this a very memorable experience. We are a family with 2 daughters, 20 and 17 so we stayed in The Sett and the girls slept in The Nest, which they absolutely loved!. We used the communal barbecue every evening looking at the lovely views so the whole trip was idyllic.

Jane Higham : Magical, one of the best glamping weekends away I have had.

We stayed in moles hill canvas cottage which was beautiful. Truly relaxing just enjoying the farm and countryside, no need to leave the farm . My six year old nephew made friends and played happily in the woodland area, his high lights were pond dipping in the wildlife pond down in the woodland reserve. He played until darkness . Paul & Kirstie have created a wonderful wildlife friendly camping experience.

The McGregor Family: Best Ever Place For Nature Family Friendly Glamping in Devon

Our second trip back to The Quarry Pods and it was as wonderful as our first trip! Can't recommend it enough. This time we were in The Sett a comfortable Supa Pod. All of the pods are simply gorgeous and comfortable, heated with lighting and mains power - all perfectly put together. Really beautiful accommodation. And the private bathrooms with hot showers make camp hygiene a pleasure rather than a chore. What’s more we did not have to keep dragging our wash gear “to and fro”!

Jill & Bryan Layman (And Kids): This was our first experience of 'glamping', although that doesn't really do justice to the "Hobbit...

Some people say "You're going to the same place on holiday, again?" I say "you would too if you had been to The Quarry Pods."

The Maccles: Devon Glamping Pods – Three Years Running and We Still Love It!!

Some people say "You're going to the same place on holiday, again?" I say "you would too if you had been to The Quarry Pods.

For the last 4 years my hubby and daughter and I have been visiting Quarry Pods, and yes you've guessed it, we have booked again for next year.
If you have read any of my other reviews of the Quarry Pods then you will know just how fantastic it is. This year however, We’ve chosen The Hive as this is a “Dog Friendly” pod and Quarry Pods is one of the few Glamping Sites in North Devon to accommodate dogs.

Quite simply it was heavenly. When the weather was hitting 23 degrees you could cool down and at night, but the pod heater was enough, and just to sit under the stars with a glass of something. What else could you wish for?
The Rainy Day Room was and cosy and our daughter loved it (ok, not just her), for  the day we had a little rain.

We will be back again next year for one of Devon’s Five Star Camping Sites

John, Jane and Hetty (The Dog): The perfect place to relax – Glamping in Bude

This was my second time visiting The Quarry Pods and it lived up to every expectation. It is just the most wonderful place to spend time relaxing. The wooden pods are beautiful and more comfortable than you could want for. The owners are very welcoming hosts and there are plenty of things to do in the local area, if you can drag yourself away from the farm. We did a few things but to be honest we were just as happy to be at the pod, dog walking, reading and playing games. Now very relaxed but not wanting to return to normal life....

The Marcs Family: Five Star Devon Camp Site - and more ......

Gosh, so we had read the reviews and absorbed the website and so we were expecting something special but The Quarry Pods exceeded every expectation.
You step back into a time gone by when you arrive - the welcome, the peace, the exceptional attention to every single detail is quite extraordinary. From the private bathrooms, to the Rainy Day Room, the peaceful and pretty quarry (where the pods are situated) to the cleanliness of the quaint camping pods, never ending hot water with the showers - all absolutely perfect.
The setting and the pods really are beautiful - more so than the photos and reviews suggest – and Paul and Kirstie have really made this retreat truly idyllic - they have perfected the line between attentive hosts and respecters of your peace and tranquility. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The dog really enjoyed all of the walking around the private woodland reserve, and we settled into enjoying the glorious weather and secluded views from our porch.

Time just passes in the The Quarry Pods in the blink of an eye, and before we knew it, it was time to return home.
Our dog, Bob, had the most idyllic week, too and was made to feel as welcome as we were. Next, time, he promises to be brave and have a dip in the pond down in the woods rather than stopping short!
The Quarry Pods offers far more than you can begin to imagine - thanks you so much, for the first of many visits.
The Quarry Pods offers the finest family glamping experience and holiday in Devon. Five, luxury pods nestled into the idyllic countryside, offer fun for families and romance for couples. The Private Bathrooms, with lashings of hot and the Rainy Day room make for the most enjoyable stya whatever time of the year.

This really is an All Year Camp Site in Devon
